Incredible moments, shared camaraderie, fun banter, full circle back to the ethos - be the change
Silly moments, moments of tears, moments of gratitude, prayers for the water, and dancing our asses off. What an amazing night at @turnstilesgr for our full moon show with @spaceship.earth_music. thank you to @kittytyedyes making a BEAUTIFUL art piece throughout the night, @tessclark.studio for providing powerful visuals from their projector, @sheriffphoenix for their charm and presence running merch for BOTH artists, and the whole lovely crew at turnstiles for having us! This is the magic that can happen when we come together in community like this in the face of all that is sour in our world.

BREAKING NEWS: We've taken a ton of time to come to this unfortunate decision to part ways with our former lead vocalist/lyricist Tony Gerenπ
This has not been an easy decision, but due to what can only be described as outrageous baffoonery, we've been put in quite a hard position.
We're grateful for the anonymous tips that have led to Tony's successful captureπ We know this will be hard for a lot of our long-time fans, but we believe this to be our best way forward.
Due to the dramatic shift this change has caused to the lineup, we've decided to officially change our band name through dropping the Y
Now we are just... Not

The movement is simple. What makes us write music is what we see echoing across all of humanity right now. It's the longing for understanding, empathy and true community. We live, write, and play, to put ourselves in another's perspective: to stand up for what is right, protect what is vulnerable, and to show that the human spirit is not easily squashed. No matter what any one of us may be feeling about the direction the world is heading in - we will not tolerate injustice, bigotry, transphobia, racism or fascism.
We live, write, and play for our common ground, for what tethers us in our shared humanity. We choose to promote that the authenticity of our vulnerability has power. That vulnerability is a gift. Not knowing how to do or change something, but trying anyways - is strength.
There are those that try to say they are powerful because they can bully others into submission. They flaunt their wealth and boast their popularity - they willingly and meaningfully tear down others humanity for the sake of votes, their bank account, their followers, and their constituents.
That friends, is fear behind a mask. Those that desire power, especially for these reasons, shouldn't have it.
We live, write, and play for the understanding that we are actually more powerful in our shared vulnerability and mutual aid than individually competing to get ahead. This music, our shows or gatherings, are invitations to come as you are and build camaraderie with those you meet as we rise together. We invite you to come as you are, exactly as you are, because it is enough. You are enough.
We are all burdened and traumatized in varying degrees by what is happening in the world. But together, with our shared humanity and vulnerability - we can dance, support and empower eachother, laugh, embrace, and sing in a way that lifts our spirits and shines light on all that is dark.
We look forward to seeing you and sharing in this energy wherever we play or gather throughout this year and beyond.
With love,
Tony from Y-Not

Y-Not is playing in the FINALS for The Stray Battle of the Bands next Saturday 3/29!
But we need you there! Tickets are live SUNDAY AT NOON! And last year they sold out within 6 minutes!!
The Stray Cafe Dot Com. Don't let Daisy down! πβ¨
Welcome all earthly humans and aliens alike to a multi genre concert under the April full moon. Y-Not will get acoustic for their first set, with intimate jams for the revolution, giving way to a full band performance with help from Joe Hertler and the Rainbow Seekers own Caleb Elzinga on saxophone. Late night howels will commence in the wake of Detroits own Spaceship Earth taking the stage with his conscious psychedelic electronica.
8pm doors | 9pm-1:30 music | $15 cover β€οΈπ₯
We got these custom Y-Not beanies from Kyle J. Bekins for each member of the band! Should we get more of them for our merch table?
We did it! We won the first round of The Stray Battle of the bands last night π€π»β€οΈ
Huge shout-out to all the other amazing bands that performed last night, along with several of our friends that got tickets before it sold out, and helped us win!
We'll be playing the final round on March 29!
Tickets will go on sale Sunday, March 23 at Noon - they usually sell out within the HOUR of posting, so don't wait!!
Much love π«ΆπΌ

Having fun at Y-Nots last band practice before battle of the bands tonight at the stray! Should we cover this in the future? ππ€π»
Y-Not is performing a Battle of The Bands at @thestraygr, this Saturday! We are practicing today to solidify our set. We hope to see you there β€οΈπ₯
We are excited for this opportunity to play @thestraygr for their annual battle of the bands with several other dark horses of the local music scene π«ΆπΌ
We are practicing today to get creative and intentional for our set β€οΈπ₯ Grand Rapids needs hope. Events like these keep people from staying walled up in their houses. As much as it's a "battle of the bands", The stray hopes to uplift members of our community and inspire collaboration over competition. Please join us on March 8th, as we pour our soul into music and share it louder with the world π€π»
